This method has been used for about 8 years in the maple industry. This article aims to demystify some of the myths about this type of packaging.

Technology

The Débacle bagger is a 6-support bagger, with a rigid support on the side that is used for all types of containers (glass, cans, etc.). The plate that serves as a support for filling the bags is suitable for all types of bags sold by Débacle. The bagger is fed into your bain-marie or container of filtered syrup ready to be packaged.

The pump uses a time/volume. Depending on the temperature and Brix of the syrup, a 540ml pouch can take 10 to 16 seconds to fill. To get the right time, simply adjust the poucher to obtain +- 713g of syrup for a 540ml pouch. In the food industry a 5% margin is tolerated, so for every 10 containers you can weigh your pouches with a scale (tared first with an empty pouch) to ensure the correct production volume.

The bagger is not calibrated by volume, because volume varies with temperature. Weight is completely independent of temperature.

This system ensures the right amount of syrup for your customers and for you. This can save you a lot of money $$$.

The environment

The bags are class 7 recyclable . Thus they are recycled at the sorting center or centers with the technology. In addition, the amount of material generated is much lower for a bag than a cane. As the majority of bags and canes come from imports from Asia, transportation is an aspect to consider. Environmentally, we can transport many more bags than canes in the same space.

For a rod box, you can have 4 pocket boxes in the same space.

Since the demand for supply has been quite unstable in recent years, it is important to stock up fairly quickly before the sugar season. Having fewer boxes of containers to store is also an interesting aspect to consider.
